About PILLOW.
Pillow was incorporated as a borough on April 20, 1864, as Uniontown. It is the northernmost town in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. Prior to the incorporation the original town was called Snydertown (Schneidershtettle) after John Snyder the founder. He was a land developer, and died in Mercer County in 1855. No elections were held in town until the borough was formed. Voting took place in Berrysburg. Although the town was known as Uniontown officially for most of its history, the post office was named Pillow and referred to as Pillow by the local population. The town was known as Uniontown, with Pillow being the post office, prior to it being incorporated. The official name changed from Uniontown to Pillow happened on November 2, 1965 by a vote of 95 to 4.
